When you complete a purchase or trial offer with a company, you get a free offer from another company. For example when you subscribe for Netflix, then you may get a movie ticket or a video game free with it. Once you buy or sign up, then you get an email from TrialPay with instructions on how to get the free gift.
As TrialPay’s 27-year-old co-founder, Alex Rampell, describes it, the service is “kind of like PayPal for people who don’t pay.”
Most of items that are offered in TrialPay come with a retail price of $30 or less. Most of the item in here are no physically present except a few like pizza-delivery chain Papa John’s.
The model is liked by both advertisers and merchants. Since 2006, when the company started, it has got more than 7,500 merchants and 2,000 advertisers. TrialPay makes money by taking a share of the money paid by the advertisers to the merchants.
