Japan’s Toshiba Corp sued Imation Corp and other recordable DVD manufacturers and distributors. Toshiba claims that these manufacturers, distributors are infringing on its patents.

According to the lawsuit, Imation and the other parties do not have any licensing agreements with Toshiba to use patents which are necessary for meeting DVD format specifications.

Toshiba wants the court to stop the manufacture, import and sale of recordable DVD media by mentioned parties and also wants damages for past infringement. Right now you will find DVD media in the U.S. under the Imation and Memorex brand.

The other defendants are Moser Baer India Ltd, CMC Magnetics Corp. and Ritek Corp of Taiwan, and Glyphics Media, Hotan Corp, Khypermedia Corp and Advanced Media Inc in the United States, Toshiba said.
