SpiderOak unveiled the latest version of their online backup and synchronization technology, version 3.0.

SpiderOak lets you backup data that you need and synchronize files online. This tool works with Mac OS X, Windows and Linux platforms. It offers “zero-knowledge” data encryption which means a process wherein your password is created by you on your own computer and encrypted by you locally. So you do not upload your password and no one can trace the password. The process makes data backup and synchronization more secure.

Now with the new preferences

  • you can put a copy of all encrypted data in your specified location
  • Increases overall build speed for new files by five times
  • increases de-duplication speeds by almost 50 times
  • adds new preferences for limiting bandwidth
  • adds a new “Status” section of the Status area

The service cost nothing up to 2GB; after that you need to pay $10 per month per 100GB increment, or $100 per year for increment of 100GB.
