A recent survey has revealed some shocking results. According to the results, 6 in 10 companies plan to skip the purchase of Microsoft’s Windows 7 computer operating system. They are planning that so as to save pennies and address their concern about compatibility with their existing applications.

Windows 7 is set to be released on October 22 and the operating system has already garnered good reviews.

The results were received in a survey by ScriptLogic Corp which was performed among more than 1,000 companies. Many of them said that they are economizing by cutting back on software updates and lack the resources to deploy Microsoft’s latest offering.

ScriptLogic Corp helps companies to mange their Microsoft Windows-based networks. For the survey it sent out its questionnaire to 20,000 information technology administrators.

Several companies are not using Windows vista stating it as unstable. Even long time partner, Intel Corp has stayed with the older XP system.

What did the survey find out?

60 percent - no plans to deploy Windows 7

34 percent - will deploy it by the end of 2010

5.4 percent - will deploy by year’s end

What are the reasons for avoiding Windows 7?

42 percent - lack of time and resources

39 percent - have concern about the compatibility of Windows 7 with existing applications

Another part of the same survey found out that 35 percent respondents had already skipped upgrades or delayed purchases to save money.
