There are several online office suites available from Google, Zoho, or ThinkFree. These are usable, but are limited in comparison to Microsoft’s Office products. Here comes a new product, Live Documents, is trying to change the perception by providing a fully featured online/offline office suite.

Live Documents, co-founded by hotmail famous Sabeer Bhatia released its first product: Live Presentations.

Will Live Documents will be able to take on Microsoft?

With a lot of hype, Live Documents was launched in November 2007. Live Documents’ CTO Adarsh Kini claimed that the company would challenge Microsoft.

Features

Live Presentations is a fully-featured presentation package. It is available both online and offline. The online application uses Adobe Flash, and the desktop application uses Adobe AIR.

The features of Live Presentations are same with that of any desktop office application. It offers notes, support for themes, graphs, outlines, shapes, animations, and more. The users can import images from Flickr, import PowerPoint and OpenDocument presentations. They can also export files as PowerPoint, OpenDocument, PostScript, or Flash.

Collaboration

Collaboration is very much necessary for a online office suite. You can share documents and do online chats with friends but your friends cannot see the updates you make on any document.

Pricing

Get Live Documents for free with 100MB of online storage. If you want 500 MB of storage then pay a minimal fee of $6.99 a month.
