A new dimension has been added to the Japanese mobile world. The “3D Display” is the new feature in the Japanese mobiles which come with ever-growing list of features. Japanese mobiles already offer ways to shop watch digital TV and send emails.

“3 D display” first comes in the Hitachi Ltd.’s Wooo H001 cell phone. The phone sale was started last month in Japan for 50,000 yen ($510). The mobile phone has a small button below the keyboard that says “3D.” When you push it the images in the screen appear three-dimensional. These images seem like protruding from the 3.1-inch liquid crystal display (LCD).

Like a miniature hologram, this new 3D mobile phone creates illusion of 3D. It sends a slightly different image to the user’s eye, it creates the illusion.

Unlike some 3D theater and the 3D Hyundai TV, the Wooo phone does not need special glasses as it has own invisible barriers packed inside the display to ensure 3D effect.

The carrier KDDI Corp. does not have any plan of introducing the phone in overseas markets.
