Google Voice is the new Internet phone service that provides several features that will change how both businesses and consumers view voice communications.

Google Voice is like a front-end for all of your phones. What it can do?

  • 1. It can assign you a new phone number which you can use as your primary number.
  • 2. You can decide whom you want to route to which of your phones. You can do that either in groups (by using groups) or by individually.
  • 3. You can personalize voicemail greetings for every caller.

It is advanced and better than a traditional phone. When you go out if you are out of range for your traditional cell phone but expect one or two emergency calls, then there is no other way except to inform the other party who probably call you about the new number. In case of Google Voice, you can create an entry with your relatives’ phone number and then specify which individuals or groups should automatically be routed to the new number. Far more relaxing.

You can also avoid unwanted callers just directing them to a voice mailbox with a greeting that’s been personalized.

Google Voice can also transcribe your incoming voicemail message and then either e-mail or text it to you.

Google Voice has a ‘Call Switch’ feature which can be used to send a call from one phone to another.
