If you are a real good videographer or video makers, you soon may be rich. YouTube will bring loads of money for you.
YouTube is planning to have more advertising in its site. Along with that, the popular video channel wants to have more participation in their 20-month-old advertising program by recruiting the makers of widely watched clips.
This is a total shift from YouTube practice of asking the video makers to apply for the ad program. The strategy has not been profitable for YouTube and so it is changing it to involve more people in it.
In 2006, Google bought YouTube for $1.76 billion. Initially, it focused on getting more and more people to the video site. Later, this year, the focus shifted to making money and since then. YouTube is trying different new ways to show ads alongside the millions of video clips in the site.
The videos will show advertising only with the consent of the video makers, because otherwise, it may create legal fights over the right to profit. This means, YouTube will need to persuade more video makers to allow ads alongside their videos.
YouTube will now look for video clips and makers with a big following, and will contact the owners for advertising opportunities.
YouTube hopes that this strategy will increase the number of advertising partners from thousands to tens of thousands, which means more advertising revenue for YouTube.
Google hasn’t specified, the share of the video owners from the advertising revenue. But in general, it may range from 7o to 90 percent.
