Next month online gamers will see launch of the new massively multiplayer online role-playing game “Champions Online.” Champions Online will allow players to create their own virtual superheroes except Spider-Man or Batman.

The game is developed by Cryptic Studios and published by Atari. This is a PC game based on “Champions,” a pen-and-paper role-playing game published in 1981.

Champions Online we let gamers create any hero they can envision. Players will be able to create every single element from what the costume looks like to what exact powers they have to things like the colors of their powers. The detailed system of the game will let players create an iconic character.

Before “Champions” Cryptic Studios also developed “City of Heroes” in 2004 and its sequel, “City of Villains,” in 2005, both of which are superhero games.

DC and Marvel Comics announced the development of their own online games, which will let players fight alongside characters such as Superman and Batman.

However “Champions” is different from the games developed by DC and Marvel Comics.  Players in “Champions” will explore, build and try to become the important heroes in the world. They will not live in the shadows of iconic characters that they’ve known and been reading about.

What will a player do?

Players will not only battle several smaller foes, but will also take down big villains such as Dr. Destroyer’s behemoth Destroid robots and Qwyjibo, a giant gorilla with flaming fists and fiery breath. Qwyjibo organically spawns in the game’s Monster Island enclave and players will be able to take it down with a team of other superheroes.

Level 20- players will find that their character has his or her very own archenemies. They will try to stop their adversary solo or can invite help from other players to throw the enemies in the super villain prison, The Stronghold, located in the game’s virtual desert.

Level 25- Players will build their nemesis, just like their superhero, from scratch.
