Cell-phone Simulator Helps Coordinate an Outfit
If you are in Japan, choosing and buying clothes is easier now because you can do it via a cell phone easily. A new service allows buyers to simulate an outfit before they buy.
Mobile carrier KDDI exhibited the simulator as part of its “EZ MyStyling” online fashion and styling service. The service was demonstrated at last week’s Ceatec exhibition in Japan.
The primary targets are women. It runs as a Flash application in the phone handset. Shoppers get a digital model to which they can add and remove clothes to coordinate a complete look.
In a demonstration, the shopper can choose between different tops, bottoms, outer wear and shoes. You can try it with different hairstyles such as short, long or a bob, and in some simulations can change the appearance of the model to make them taller or heavier.
There appears a second screen which shows more details on each of the items, such as colors, sizes and prices. Once you find all your desired items, you can easily order the entire ensemble with a few button clicks on the cell phone.
The software that works in the scene of the EZ MyStyling fashion simulator was developed by Osaka-based Digital Fashion, such which is based on the company’s “Haoreba” fashion simulator for PC and Web applications.
“The software allows you to view a simulation through 360 degrees and freely add items such as bags to coordinate together,” said Yasuhiko Sugihashi, manager of the marketing and sales division at Digital Fashion.
The simulation on the PC is a step ahead, which can now simulate a model not just wearing selected clothes but walking down a virtual cat walk.
