This holiday shopping season was different for retailers. According to the retailers, it was the worst in decades. But Amazon.com has something else to say and claims to have to have the “best ever” holiday.

On Dec. 15, Amazon’s peak day, customers ordered a record 6.3 million items (So if you think about seconds, then customers ordered almost 73 items each second). Now, last year Amazon recorded that  customers ordered 5.4 million items on the peak day which was Dec. 10.

The press release however does not speak about the actual picture. You won’t find about the revenue or the total product volume, whether margins affected the profit, what type of products were sold more etc.

Many analysts do not see any surprises here. According to them the ecommerce market and the online shopping is increasing continuously and as the leading online retailer Amazon is sure to get more business. Amazon claims this holidays season to be the “best ever” or “busiest ever” every year since at least 2002.
